Discovery is completed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tOn Tuesday, he took his pitch to New York for the Upfront presentation, where he outlined his vision for content and advertising in front of dozens of executives from one of the major media holding companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t&#8220;I entered this industry in my early 20s because of my love for storytelling, and that passion is what drives me today. In fact, it drives our entire leadership team. We believe deeply in the power of stories to entertain, connect and inspire audiences everywhere,&#8221; Ellison told the crowd in an intimate venue in Chelsea. &#8220;At the same time, all of us in this room understand that we&#8217;re competing for something incredibly rare: attention. And attention only happens when viewers truly care about what they&#8217;re seeing. Therein lies the opportunity. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t\u201cReally powerful things happen when storytelling and marketing work together,\u201d he continued. &#8220;Brands stop feeling intrusive and start becoming part of the experience. It&#8217;s no longer just about reach; it&#8217;s about resonance. In a world of endless options, Paramount&#8217;s goal is simple: connect what audiences like with what brands need.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tWhat followed was a smaller-scale expo than other companies will hold next month, but it was still a familiar pitch. There were clips of upcoming shows, star appearances (Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser! Elle Chapman! JJ Watt!), and comedy sets. <em>daily show<\/em>There will also be event-ending musical performances by Ronnie Cheng and Wyclef Jean. But instead of spectacle, the company leaned into conversation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tOr, as direct-to-consumer chief Cindy Holland told the audience, &#8220;I think this room and our business, our marketing partners and our brand survive on a healthy ecosystem of premium content powered by data and technology,&#8221; she said. \u201cNo company has ever started a business on the power of content rather than the power of a platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tInstead of holding large events that draw more than 1,000 people like many other media brands (NBCUniversal has taken over Radio City Music Hall, Disney has rented a cavernous space at the Jacob Javits Center), Paramount is holding smaller presentations in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, tailored to the audiences in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tUnlike Cinema Con, Warner Bros. Discovery wasn&#8217;t a factor (WBD plans to do its own pre-ordering in the coming weeks). Instead, the company leaned into its traditional stance and threw in a ton of Taylor Sheridan shows like: <em>Dutton Ranch<\/em> and<em> madison<\/em>and CBS blockbuster hits like<em> elsbeth<\/em>. (Sheridan himself will have a TV deal with Paramount until the end of 2028, before the prolific producer moves on to NBCUniversal.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tAnd when it comes to streaming, chief product officer Dane Glasgow and chief revenue officer Jay Askinasi say the company is as excited about upcoming product changes as it is about content, with a major overhaul of Pluto TV planned for later this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t&#8220;Certainly, we&#8217;ve been offering SVOD and AVOD services at scale, but overall we&#8217;re a little behind on the technology side,&#8221; Askinas said. <em>hollywood reporter<\/em>. &#8220;And given David&#8217;s background, but also the talent that he brings and the investments that we&#8217;re making in these platforms are significant, we&#8217;ve been very public about this and we&#8217;re in the middle of a convergence process on our platforms right now.&#8221; [direct-to-consumer] This gives you a more unified approach. We&#8217;re going to have a better consumer experience, we&#8217;re going to have a unified identity, we&#8217;re going to be able to look at this ecosystem more holistically than ever before, and that&#8217;s going to be a really powerful move as we move forward. \u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tThe company focused on what it was doing with Pluto at the forefront, including enhancing movies and series from the Paramount Library and licensing content from other studios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t&#8220;About 65 percent of Pluto&#8217;s consumption is actually the Paramount Library, and I don&#8217;t think a lot of people realize that,&#8221; Askinasi says. \u201cParticularly through Dane\u2019s efforts, we will increasingly see our ability to unlock a lot of premium content within Paramount\u2019s library.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tAnd the company promoted its own sports, including NFL football, The Masters, March Madness and UFC. When it comes to advertising, sports remains a major part of any media equation, and events like the Super Bowl ultimately help secure advertising dollars for entertainment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tBut while Taylor Sheridan shows, product enhancements and even blockbuster movies were on the menu, the pitches from Ellison and his team were sometimes more lofty. They want to build Paramount (and eventually WBD) into an entertainment powerhouse on the same scale as Disney and Netflix.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tAnd to make that happen, the company will need the support of a major advertising holding company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t&#8220;Our goal is to build a premier media and entertainment company that strengthens competition, better serves the creative community, and delivers more compelling stories to audiences around the world,&#8221; Ellison told the crowd after a screening of Jon M.
