Sweet Savage is a Belfast-based band started by Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell at the age of 16. Campbell played the band in the studio for drummer Vinnie Appice and bassist Jimmy Bain, and Dio came in and started singing the melody.<\/p>\n
Apis then grabbed a Yahama keyboard the band had set up and came up with the fun motif that can be heard on “Rainbow in the Dark,” a song that was completed in essentially 10 minutes. The song’s accompanying video, filmed shortly after in central London, depicts a very violent-looking man chasing a woman through the city. During a frenzied guitar solo, Campbell and Bain terrify him with their shredding powers as the women dance triumphantly.<\/p>\n
