SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 The Utah native who first made headlines seven years ago when he sang on “America’s Got Talent” has been working hard ever since winning the reality TV competition. And now, Kodi Lee is celebrating the release of his first album, Exactly As I Am.<\/p>\n
Announcing the album’s release, Lee said in a social media post, “I hope my music brings healing and joy to everyone.”<\/p>\n
Lee, 29, who was born blind and diagnosed with autism, chose to release the album in April, which is Autism Awareness Month.<\/p>\n
While promoting the song “One People,” Lee said, “This is my gift of hope and unity to the world.”<\/p>\n
Lee’s name may sound familiar to some Utahns, as he was featured in a KSL article in 2008. At the time, he was an 11-year-old living in Tooele and was surprising people with his musical talent.<\/p>\n
In May 2019, Lee won America’s hearts with an impressive audition on “America’s Got Talent.” His mother, Tina Lee, joined him on stage to introduce Kodi and explain that while he may not be good at normal conversation, he was born to be an entertainer.<\/p>\n
Lee then sat down at the piano and began a moving rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You,” which brought tears and chills to the audience’s feet. He won a golden buzzer from a judge and was sent straight to the live show.<\/p>\n
