Panic was rightly welcomed in the city where the band has been performing since 1987.<\/p>\n<p><strong>john bell<\/strong> He rolled up his sleeves and greeted with a modest, &#8220;Hello, everyone!&#8221; Before WSP begins with the two instrumentals of the first three songs. \u201cThe Take Out\u201d shattered the static until it dialed in the frequency of \u201cRadio Child.\u201d <strong>jojo herman<\/strong> Jumped between the multi-layered keyboards. guns for hire, <strong>nick johnson<\/strong>and captured the fort. <strong>jimmy herring<\/strong>This is the 10th time he has been absent (excluding last year&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Eve sit-in), and he looks and sounds more comfortable each time.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 540px; min-width: 326px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DXRzGlIpbrd\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>bassist <strong>dave school<\/strong> We broke into the second instrumental, playing the distorted rhythm of &#8220;Machine&#8221; with bear paws, before settling on &#8220;Barstools and Dreamers.&#8221; Jojo&#8217;s organ <strong>Sunny Ortiz<\/strong>The upbeat percussion of WSP dominated the sound at slower tempos, but when WSP went into double time, Nick Johnson and <strong>duane trucks<\/strong>Drums propelled the movement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Related: Dave learns about this chapter of absurdity, current art, and widespread panic [Interview]<\/p>\n<p>JB introduced the relaxed &#8220;C. Brown&#8221; and the mellow vibe wandered into the &#8220;Goodpeople&#8221; sandwiches. JoJo dissected the song from a shadowy corner of the stage while visiting the \u201cDark Bar.\u201d After finishing the jam sandwich, WSP performed two more original songs &#8220;Little by Little&#8221; and &#8220;Blackout Blues&#8221; to close out the first half.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Widespread Panic \u2014 \u201cC Brown\u201d \u2014 April 17, 2026<\/strong><\/span><br \/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Widespread Panic - C Brown,  Birmingham  AL, 04-17-2026\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HTqBYvaQlrE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>[Video: taperhead1]<\/p>\n<p>WSP picks up where they left off, combining fan favorites as the greasy \u201cContentment Blues\u201d saunters into \u201cDiner.\u201d JB&#8217;s impromptu rap was short but colorful. &#8220;She opened early to help the po-boys\/She said, &#8216;Well, I came in a little early too\/I couldn&#8217;t sleep\/I dreamed, dreamed, dreamed&#8230;\/Same dream\/Wake up\/Back again\/A little sunlight shining through the hedge there\/Through glass and glass letters\/Sliding through and resting on my coffee cup\/Get a little warmer\/I gotta go before the good guys come\/One more, one more, one more&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Panic did not stop and started the old reliable engine of the &#8220;Love Tractor&#8221;. The mischievous Schools have added the energetic &#8220;Roll Tide&#8221; to their usual Yee-Haw. JoJo&#8217;s piano and vocals then come to the forefront on &#8220;Visiting Day,&#8221; and Schools sings the show&#8217;s first song not written solely by Widespread Panic, <strong>Savage.<\/strong> Collaboration with the deceased <strong>Vic Chestnut<\/strong>&#8220;Bright&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Widespread Panic \u2014 \u201cDiner\u201d, \u201cLove Tractor\u201d \u2014 4\/17\/26<\/strong><\/span><br \/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Widespread Panic - Diner (into) Love Tractor, Birmingham, AL, O4-17-2026\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hkk32fDUXlE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>[Video: taperhead1]<\/p>\n<p>During the haunted organ-filled \u201cYou Got Yours,\u201d Panic slips back into the canon. To fill the rare silence, JB joked, &#8220;And this is the perfect &#8216;Noosa song&#8217; to introduce the heartfelt &#8216;We Walk Each Other Home.&#8217; The extended &#8220;Up All Night&#8221; paid homage to Alabama&#8217;s neighboring states, with lyrical references to the savannah and &#8220;Georgia skies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jojo took command from here, with segues connecting the rest of the songs and keeping the music flowing until the end of the set. Speedy WSP combined with Troubadour&#8217;s funky cover <strong>JJ Cale<\/strong>&#8216;s set-closing cut of &#8220;Ride Me High&#8221; <strong>jerry joseph<\/strong> and <strong>Glenn Esparza<\/strong>&#8216;s &#8220;climb to safety&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>To end the night, Widespread Panic delivered a rousing encore. First, the band paid tribute to their late drummer. <strong>tod nance<\/strong> \u201cDown\u201d has subtle hints of home; <strong>Lynyrd Skynyrd<\/strong>&#8220;Sweet Home Alabama.&#8221; Then some Southern men needed ol&#8217; Neil anyway, as &#8220;Mr. Soul&#8221; closed the show as a clever nod to classic rock&#8217;s most misunderstood fake feud.<\/p>\n<p>Widespread Panic returns for a second night in Birmingham tonight, April 18th. <strong>record store day<\/strong>. If tonight&#8217;s show is anything like the 2018 finale, it&#8217;s going to be hot.
