No surprises along the way, no scrambling for ingredients, no need to trampoline and cook for 2,219 people on a Bunsen burner (well… top chef).

Once the randomizer wheel spins, chefs can use their creativity and experience to create something in minutes. Their trusted colleagues Justin Warner and Tiffany Faison then anonymously present the plates to the judges, who give them a numerical score.

I love that screening method. Even though food ratings are ultimately subjective, more and more programs are using blind judging or adding objective scoring methods.

I’m also grateful for that table of contents has continued to evolve through seven seasons, eight if you include last winter’s holiday season. The bracket will no longer be East vs. West, allowing for different matchups. Qualifiers added several weeks of competition and even more fresh blood. Past award winners are also included in the jury.

If I’m lucky enough to still get it table of contents There are a few things you can tweak every year. For me, there are three things that could dramatically improve the show.

1. Please provide multiple notes for each chef

The quarterfinals of Tournament of Champions Season 7 ended with a match between Brian Voltaggio and Shirley Chan (Photo Credit: Food Network)

My summaries and comments were full of jokes and references to Jonathan Sawyer’s sobriety. no one’s kidding of I hope that by mentioning it, as I wrote, he will help or reassure viewers who are also struggling with substance abuse.

But that is everything we know about him-Especially because it’s something he emphasizes on other cooking shows he appears on.

this is my biggest complaint table of contents: The chef’s biography is too monotonous.

I don’t want each episode to be a mini-documentary. After all, I also complain american ninja warrior and america’s got talent Other shows that don’t have “America” in their names have episodes overloaded in the background. Now let’s get down to business!

table of contentsThe official introduction of the chef will be followed by the introduction of Guy Fieri in the arena. We hear about their accomplishments, and a list appears on the screen with details such as how many years they’ve been a chef and how many restaurants they’ve opened. That’s all good information.

However, viewers and fans often mention fast forwarding throughout the show. I think it’s because these intros and trailers feel monotonous, especially after watching Chef once.

Almost every chef has one thing going on, like Shirley Chan’s battle with cancer or Brian Voltaggio never winning a show by himself. Sometimes those notes change. Tobias Dolson’s past in the NFL was his one note, but now it’s about recovering from a shooting.

Obviously, that’s important to Tobias and his fans, and all humans who want other humans not to get shot. And of course, the last few years have been the focus of Shirley’s life and we’re so thrilled that she’s okay and as impressed as ever with her cooking and personality.

That’s why I don’t want it either table of contents Ignoring what is important to the contestant or their top priorities. I want them to dig deeper and not just repeat the same thing over and over again.

It’s difficult to express that during or immediately after a game. Even as a seasoned sideline interviewer, it can be difficult to get the chef who walks through the door to say anything insightful. and table of contents There are no skilled side job interviewers. or a skilled speaker.

So this will probably be the job of the producers to be in the trailer with the chefs and interview them afterwards. For example, why not ask the chef questions like:

How did they prepare for this season, if at all?

If there is a new technology or material that you would like to incorporate

How did they deal with last year’s losses?

What do you do in your breaks between cooking at TOC?

where they recently traveled

Why do you like this format and how does it compare to shows like: top chef or chopped

How painful it is for them to listen to hunters trying to formulate questions.

It’s likely that the producers had already done this, and the footage ended up just being cut for time reasons.

I know that TV network executives don’t necessarily believe that viewers are paying attention, and I truly believe that they need to be told the same thing over and over again. (Here are some interesting examples.)

However, the career and life of a chef is much richer than that of a chef. table of contents I would like to inform you about. Last week I spoke with Britt Rescigno and we focused almost entirely on: table of contentsSo it’s not like I asked her about her hobbies or her favorite reality shows. (Damn, I should have done that!)

Still, Britt had a lot to say about how people perceive her, the pressure she feels, and her new nickname. If she changed her nickname, why wasn’t it explained on the show? Why not dig into the chef’s words more emotionally?

You don’t need to change any of this table of contents; To deepen it, just change what we see. Speaking of something even more profound…

2. Judge Simon Majumdar chat details

Amanda Freitag presents the first round of TOC 5 dishes while Simon Majumdar takes notes (Photo courtesy of Food Network)

The behind-the-scenes conversations between Simon Majumdar and the judges are fun, with the judges having drinks and chatting over food. Of course, I’m also glad that Guy Fieri and the producers kept Simon on board. table of contents while he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.

Unfortunately, we only get to see a few seconds of his chat, but when we do see it, it can be a revelation. oh, it is Just why that person lost. We only see a small portion of the judges’ comments during tastings, and judges in cooking competitions always debate the pros and cons, so it’s not always clear what really matters.

We don’t need 10 minutes, but what if we cut Chef’s intro down to 15 seconds and used that 30 seconds to boost Simon’s segment?

I especially want to hear Simon ask the judges about their opinions and differences in scores. Maybe it’s a sensitive thing, so they don’t want to draw attention to the fact that: I’m the one who ruined Shirley Chan’s season. I gave it a 3 because I didn’t like the presentation.

Perhaps it would be an opportunity to show individual ballots, or at least the scores of the judges as a whole, to see how the averages match up? I’d be interested to know if all judges scored the same in one category, or if there’s a range.

In other words, the more Simons, the deeper the review.

3.
