System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan called for actress Charlize Theron to be jailed for comments she made about gender identity, even though the comments attributed to her did not actually come from her.
Over the weekend, the System drummer shared a quote image (deleted due to ThePRP filming) on his Instagram Stories that incorrectly attributed to the Oscar-winning actress, in which she allegedly said, “This is what drives me. All my kids are queer. My oldest is non-binary. My son is gay. My youngest is fluid.”
In response, Dolmayan shared the graphic with a response. “This woman should be in a mental hospital or prison. Children are being emotionally abused, which is statistically impossible,” the drummer responded.
Where did this quote and graphic originally come from?
While the quote may have attributed the comment to Theron, it was actually made by actress Marcia Gay Harden. It appears that the System drummer may have stumbled upon a misquoted image from the show’s host, David Harris Jr. The Pulse Newsmax2 initially offered it on its own Instagram account.

As for where this quote first came from, actress Marcia Gay Harden said it during an appearance on the 2023 Drag Isn’t Dangerous Telethon (according to) NBC News). Speaking to TV show co-host Adam Shankman about her LGBTQ advocacy and how her children motivate her, she said, “What drives me is that all my kids are queer. My oldest is non-binary. My son is gay. My youngest is fluid.”
All three of Harden’s children were born during her marriage to ex-husband Thaddeus Seale. Their first child was born in 1998, and twins were born in 2004.
What about Charlize Theron’s family?
Theron may not have said the quote that sparked Dolmayan’s reaction, but she is an adoptive mother. in 2019 daily mail According to the article, Theron revealed that she had been raising Jackson as a girl after declaring that she was “not a boy” when she was 3 years old. Meanwhile, Theron’s younger child was also born and is being raised as a girl.
“Yes, I thought she was a boy too,” Theron said at the time, “until she looked at me at three years old and said, ‘I’m not a boy!'” So here we go! I have two beautiful daughters and like any parent, I want to protect them and watch them grow. ”

“They were born the way they are, and it’s not up to me to decide where exactly they find themselves and who they want to be as they grow up,” she said, adding, “My job as a parent is to celebrate them, love them, and make sure they have everything they need to be who they want to be.” And I will do everything in my power to ensure that children have that right and are protected within it. ”
Despite philosophical differences, the System of a Down still works
System of a Down has maintained a solid dynamic as a band, despite their sometimes differing opinions. Although singer Serj Tankian and drummer John Dolmayan have sometimes taken opposing sides on issues, they are actually brothers-in-law and have maintained a certain civility despite their differing viewpoints.
In 2020, Serj Tankian shared on his social media, “Regardless of our highly polarized political views and disagreements, my beloved and respected drummer and brother-in-law @johndolmayan_ will always be my staunch ally in our efforts to recognize the Armenian Genocide within the soap.”
He further added, “The amount of hate and stupidity towards him and me online is unjustifiable. Social media has created a false digital society that thrives in part on this reality. Regardless of stance, only artists who truly care and are passionate about what is true… Remember, you risk alienating your thinking base. Our dilemma and possible fallacy is that we have two in one band. Some may see that as a weakness, but otherwise it is an artistic, political, and social dichotomy. (not a word) made @systemofadown what it is today. Thank you for reading. We should read more outside of online. ”
