Ben Stiller makes the same screwball comedy for the fourth time with new trailer

Paramount Pictures has released a preview trailer for their new movie. Fokker in lawlast week, it immediately caught my attention. As you can probably tell from the title, this movie is the fourth in the “Meet the Parents” film series that started in 2000. As much as I loved the original movie and even enjoyed parts of the 2004 sequel, I can’t help but feel annoyed that we’re seeing the exact same movie a fourth time. This is what the trailer looks like Fokker in law It promises to add some comedic beats from Ariana Grande, but little else.

A strong start and a slow decline

If you’re not interested in the series, check out the original meet parents A very straightforward comedy story about an obnoxious and anxious man named Gaylord Focker (Ben Stiller) who meets his girlfriend’s family for the first time. Fokker hopes to take this opportunity to propose with the blessing of his family, but is plagued by a series of misunderstandings and social failures. To make matters worse, Fokker must contend with his girlfriend’s domineering ex-CIA father, Jack (Robert De Niro).

Seriously, Ben Stiller even told X this week, “I stand by the first two movies in the series,” completely ignoring the third movie.

The Same Old Joke for the new generation

Well, it looks like they’re planning a fourth installment with the same content. Fokker in law. Greg Focker remains clumsy and clumsy in the role, but old Jack uses his people skills to criticize his son-in-law for having a stupid last name. Meanwhile, a new generation of Focker men is on the rise, with Greg’s son Henry (Skyler Gisondo) planning to propose to his girlfriend Olivia Jones (Ariana Grande). Based on the trailer, Grande appears to play an FBI hostage negotiator who separates Focker Jr. from his mentally unstable family in hopes of leading a relatively normal life.

Will you see this movie as soon as it comes out? Almost certainly. But do you remember seeing it within hours of leaving the theater? I have a doubt. The truth is Fokker in law It could have been an opportunity to completely reinvent the character in a fun and exciting way. Greg could have really come into his own with age and taken on a more confident and bullish demeanor. We could have even seen him and Jack on the same page for once and working together to test Ariana Grande’s worth of entering the coveted “Circle of Trust.”

Instead, it looks like we’re going to be treated to another 90 minutes of Robert De Niro rolling his eyes at Ben Stiller and the conflicts caused by characters who refuse to sit back and explain things in plain English. The trailer revealed that minor supporting characters from other films will also be returning to do similar things. i am not angry Fokker in law basically recycle meet parents This is my fourth time writing the screenplay, and I’m a little disappointed because I knew that Stiller, De Niro, and other directors could have produced something stronger.

To be fair, this is all a reaction to one trailer. Although it is extremely small, Fokker in law It subverted all my expectations and delivered a new comedy classic that holds its own. It’s equally possible that Earth will be wiped out by a meteor before the movie hits theaters, but I wouldn’t hold my breath either way.
