Over the past 88 years, there have been numerous attempts to modernize and redesign Superman’s iconic costume and overall look. Superman wears a black and silver variation of the suit, an electric blue and electric red bodysuit, armor enhancements, and subtle adjustments such as the absence of a collar or trunks. Kal-El even played a mullet in one of his most memorable stories sometime in the 1990s.
Although it’s become pretty clear that the basics of Superman iconography will never change, certain re-imaginings are welcome from time to time, especially during key moments in Man of Tomorrow’s comic book history.
