Spring is in full swing, and this weekend brought a ton of new movies to the best streaming services. But when you’re spoiled for choice, choosing your next watch can quickly become a headache.
That’s why I regularly check out the latest movies coming and going to stream and highlight the ones that are actually worth your precious viewing time. This includes a new Netflix comedy set in a college dorm produced by Adam Sandler and starring his daughter. For a more emotional movie, Colleen Hoover’s romantic drama Reminders of Him is now available to stream at home.
HBO Max also has Mads Mikkelsen and Sigourney Weaver’s R-rated fantasy horror Dust Bunny. I don’t know about you, but that one sentence alone is enough to pique my interest. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the best new movies streaming this weekend.

“Roommates” (Netflix)
watch on
If you’re looking for a brand new free-spirited comedy, Roommates, now streaming on Netflix, is for you. The college-set film comes from Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison banner and stars his eldest daughter Sadie Sandler in the lead role. This is likely to be a work that will be painfully relatable to those who hold close to their hearts stories from their awkward college days. It’s hard to tell if it’ll be a definitive success, but it’s still likely to break into Netflix’s top 10 in the coming days.
“Roommates” tells the story of shy college freshman Devon (Sandler), who begins his first year away from home and chooses the confident and unpredictable Celeste (Chloe East) to be his roommate. The two quickly become close as they learn about dorm life, parties, and new friendships. However, small tensions begin to mount and their once easy bond begins to crumble. Their living conditions quickly become chaotic and increasingly hostile.

“His Memories” (PVOD)
watch on
Building on the success of It Ends With Us and Regretting You, Reminders of Him is Colleen Huber’s latest work to hit the big screen. Featuring a predictable mix of emotional dialogue, lingering facial expressions, and dramatic storytelling, it will be instantly recognizable to fans of these film adaptations. Still, the appeal of these films is undeniable. Additionally, rather than trying to reinvent your approach, focus on familiar strengths and appeal directly to your target audience.
Reminders of Him is the story of Kenna (Maika Monroe), who returns to her hometown after serving time for a fatal traffic accident involving her boyfriend Scotty (Maika Monroe). She hopes to be reunited with her young daughter Diem, who is being raised by Scottie’s parents, but faces strong resistance. As she tries to rebuild her life, she makes an unexpected connection with Ledger (Tilik Withers), a local bar owner with whom she has a connection to her past.

“Dust Bunny” (HBO Max)
watch on
Sometimes it’s nice to watch something different and completely original. “Dust Bunny” is a prime example. This fantasy action horror is a striking visual spectacle, a brightly styled fairy-tale nightmare that leans into whimsy, danger, and emotional weight. They prioritize mood over explanation and intuition over logic, creating something eerie, playful, and surprisingly moving. Strange, but surprisingly beautiful.
“Dust Bunny” follows 8-year-old Aurora (Sophie Sloan), who becomes convinced that a creature is hiding under her bed after strange events occur in her home. When those around her ignore her fears, she turns to a quiet killer (Mads Mikkelsen), a neighbor with a violent past, to eliminate the threat. As he reluctantly agrees, the two become embroiled in an escalating danger that attracts multiple assassins.

“Balls Up” (Prime Video)
watch on
If you’re a fan of comedy, you’ll want to put “Balls Up” on your Prime Video watchlist. Directed by Peter Farrelly of “Dumb and Dumber” fame and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of “Deadpool” fame, the trailer for the film clearly shows that it’s a chaotic, over-the-top comedy filled with raucous, raunchy energy. It doesn’t look like it’s going to win any serious awards, but it looks like it’s totally leaning towards a very silly watch.
“Balls Up” follows marketing executives Brad (Mark Wahlberg) and Elijah (Paul Walter Hauser). Their attempt to sell an unconventional condom brand on an audacious World Cup sponsorship is thrown into turmoil when a drunken celebration in Brazil sparks a major international incident. As the commotion escalates, the pair find themselves accused of disrupting the match and quickly become the targets of angry fans, criminals, and authorities across the country.

“Undertone” (PVOD)
watch on
Billed as “the scariest movie you’ve ever heard,” “Undertone” is designed as an immersive, audio-driven experience that uses layered sound, silence, and distortion to create tension and anxiety throughout its runtime. Although it often plays more like a thriller, favoring style over substance, “Undertone” is ideal for those looking for something different from the standard horror. It’s sensory overload in a good way.
“Undertones” tells the story of Evie (Nina Kiri), a lonely podcast host who records episodes about unexplained audio phenomena while caring for her seriously ill mother in her secluded family home. When the co-hosts receive a set of anonymous recordings from a couple who have encountered disturbing sounds, Evie begins investigating the files as they become increasingly disturbing and personal. Trapped in her house, she tries to trace where the recordings came from and who sent them.
