‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ set visit was pure ‘Star Wars’ magic

When you step on set, star wars Movies are the second most enjoyable thing of the day. It’s a wonderful day. But that’s exactly what happened earlier this month, when io9 was among a group of journalists invited to watch the first 18 minutes. The Mandalorian & Grogu After seeing it in IMAX, visit the film set at a secret location in Los Angeles, California.

The invitation to visit the set seemed odd considering the movie would be released in a month and was shot at least a year ago. Most movies remove their sets when they are finished using them. However, director Jon Favreau had made many films before. the mandalorian At least one set from the Los Angeles TV show still stands, as it was transferred from season 3 of the show to the movies. New Republic Bar at Adelphi.

This is a popular watering hole visited by the likes of Carson Teva, Trapper Wolf, and Zeb Orrelios. The bar also appears in the trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu. The set still remains in Favreau’s house, as this is where they discuss their next assignment with Colonel Ward (Sigourney Weaver). star wars Wonderland. Of course, it’s incredible. Details abound everywhere you look. And there are many places where you can’t do that.

The bar itself features the heads of so many Imperial Stormtroopers, Scouttroopers, TIE pilots, and more. Includes probe droid head and mouse droid. To blow off steam while drinking, I enjoy playing video games on one console and shuffleboard games on another. Rebel flags fly along with the wings of an X-Wing. Oh, and of course you can sit at the table where Mando talks to Ward.

But again, as I said earlier, if you step on this, star wars The set was the second coolest thing I did that day. It was cooler, but a few buildings over, and through a door we entered a room that can only be described as: star wars heaven. Everywhere I looked, it was filled with props, creatures, vehicles, and more from most shows from the Disney+ era.

Heads of creatures like Tauntaun, Reek, and Nexhu line the walls like some kind of crazy hunter’s trophy room. There is also a dragon head of The Mandalorian and Groguwas used for reactions on set. There’s a Mandalorian helmet on one shelf, a bunch of blasters on another, and a dozen droids of all shapes, sizes, and makes stand across from them. In one corner is (mostly) a full-sized N1 starfighter. Elsewhere, a new cockpit razor crestwas used during filming. Behind it are hidden many animatronic creatures and masks. skeleton crewmultiple Wookiees, Gamorreans, and of course the GOAT himself, Neil skeleton crew.

But wait, that’s not all. There is a 1:1 scale ship that the Anzelites ride on. The Mandalorian and Grogu (as seen in the latest trailer), as well as the interior set. Hidden in another corner are a bunch of creatures frozen in carbonite, Grog’s new pram, a life-size STAP, a life-size AT-RT, and even a preview of Favreau’s next project. Oswald: Lucky Rabbit.

I looked around the room probably four or five times and still felt like I was missing a lot. It was a transcendent experience and one I won’t soon forget.

Oh, of course I saw the opening. The Mandalorian and Grogu I also talked to Jon Favreau along the way. You can read about them at these links. But actually, visiting the set and this amazing warehouse reminded me why I love it so much. star wars so. I hope the same thing happens once the movie is released.
