The Boys pits Soldier Boy and Homelander against each other during a transitional period.

I have to address the elephant in the room. AV club exists in the boys‘ universe. I’d like to believe that supers and ordinary people read this site in their free time and are clearly nodding vigorously in agreement with the D we gave them. Lamplighter: Light of JusticeThe finale. Based on the one by Vought Studios. the boys So far, this is an accurate assessment of how we (and probably everyone else) rate these hypothetical projects. that’s good training a train“”, in which you co-starred with Will Ferrell, remains unreleased, right? Anyway, I laughed out loud, knowing that I would be giving the rest of the students a grade. the boys episode. Thankfully, we haven’t reached the D- level yet.

In the fourth and final season, some of the most annoying minds try to come up with a way to promote Homelander as the next savior, after an angelic vision. last week. “Jesus would kill people for our marketing,” the villain Spe tells Firecracker as he tasks her with spreading the gospel. So she gathers Vice President Ashley, her husband Father Oh (Daveed Diggs), Vought producer Courtney (Jackie Torn), and writer/supervisor The Worm (Ely Henry) at The Seven’s headquarters. They are thinking of ways to convince the world that Jesus has risen. Some of the ideas being tossed around include Homelander parting oceans “to send refugees back where they came from” and flying to sacred sites around the world to take selfies with fans. Eventually, he is reintroduced simply as the American Prophet. I guess that explains the episode’s title, “King Of Hell.”

Homelander has a whirlwind day until he takes the stage to greet his adoring fans. He goes to Fort Harmony with Soldier Boy, hoping to find V1 and ingest it to gain immunity to the deadly virus. Along the way, the father-son duo passive-aggressively diss each other in ways we’ve never heard before. Soldier Boy also admits to having sex with Stormfront once or twice in the past, and his son ( Also (connected to Stormfront) responds, “I think we’re related in more ways than one.” Significantly, Soldier Boy does not believe that he would kill himself and asks if Homelander has seen the body. Will Aya Cash appear again? the boys in front Vought Rising?

Soldier Boy also had an ulterior motive (thanks to Sister Sage’s dirty advice) to accompany his son on his field trips, but it wasn’t to help. There, as the two trade barbs and search for V1 in an abandoned gory space, Soldier Boy locks Homelander in a room with toxic substances. Most people with it in their body would die immediately, but thanks to Homelander’s abilities, it affects him slowly, so he only experiences a painful rash and weakness. But what an incredible relief to see this man suffer, even if only for a short time. That scene alone gets me an A. AV club.

The two supers aren’t the only ones looking for V1. Huey, Butcher, MM, Frenchie, and Kimiko also arrive at Fort Harmony, hoping to secure Harmony before their nemesis. Unfortunately, the research facility and its surroundings are infected with spores, which makes everyone furious. (Huey even calls his girlfriend Annie a bitch, which is surprisingly unexpected for him.) Only Frenchie remains safe thanks to the amount of drugs he’s already taken in his life. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when Huey, Butcher, MM, and Kimiko begin to dislike each other and openly express their long-held frustrations. Under the influence of spores, they are not only unbearably angry, but also honest. This whole arc lasts longer than necessary in “Kings of Hell,” but it gives the characters room to do some much-needed work.

In Season 4, Butcher’s blinding desire for revenge isolated him from his friends. He alienated everyone when he became super, but he still hasn’t been able to bring people back into his corner. Huey is the only one who vouches for Butcher, but in his anger, even he doesn’t seem to care what happens to Butcher in their duel. As for Kimiko’s tantrums, she explodes at her boyfriend and reminds Frenchie that she is not a damsel in distress. With Fort Harmony so messed up, The Boys were finally able to sort out their problems in a bit of a haze. Hopefully they’re on the same page now and can get back to the season 1 energy this show desperately needs. MM and Butcher essentially make up, and the team heads off from there, quietly enjoying listening to “Mambo No. 5” in the car.

However, before leaving, Homelander and Butcher come face-to-face as he is still trapped. “Did your dad put you in timeout?” Butcher asks him, adding that it doesn’t matter what Homelander accomplishes, he will never be happy. In Season 5, Homelander is repeatedly portrayed as a weak, pathetic loser. Don’t they realize that they are only making him more furious? Now he thinks he’s a prophet, so I’m worried about what he’ll do. The only reason he escapes from Fort Harmony is because Frenchy, who is in stable condition, discovers the source of the rage spores. Another Supe like department store version of game of thronesThe Three-Eyed Raven is making that happen. Frenchy convinces Soldier Boy to kill the weirdo, which stops the Boys’ rampage, frees Homelander, and makes Soldier Boy cry as he looks back on his past.

The Boys also deduce that V1 is missing and the only person who could have gotten it is a super named Bombsite who worked with Soldier Boy in the ’50s. Little is known about the man other than the fact that he starred in Vought Studios’ 1953 thriller. Fu Manchu’s Curse. (if AV club ) We know that Mason Dye is playing Bombsite in the upcoming prequel, so it’s safe to assume he’ll appear in this one. the boys It’s coming soon. After the plot progress in last week’s episode, I liked how the character development progressed at this halfway point. However, I would like the remaining four episodes to focus on the conclusion. the boys Instead of setting up the characters from the previous game.

Stray observation

  • • If you are interested, AV club It was also part of arrowverse and 2 other people.
  • • “I think numbers are everything when it comes to suits, and Vought+ never releases numbers.”
  • • So Homelander can smell Soldier Boy’s scent all over Firecracker, but he doesn’t realize that Butcher and the others are smelling it. Are you one floor below him in Fort Harmony?
  • • Annie is reunited with her father, who abandoned her as a child, in “King Of Hell.” She found out that he couldn’t stand his wife’s obsession with V1 and left. She also meets and bonds with her half-brother and stepmother. The lesson she learned from her father, who seemed genuinely remorseful, was to never abandon the people you love. So she ran straight back into Huey’s arms. Huey tells her that he picked the perfect day to be absent.
  • My favorite line in this episode is when Firecracker, played by Valorie Curry, says “Congratulations” in an unsteady voice after Homelander declares him to be the next Jesus Christ.
  • • For those keeping score, Sister Sage tells the president to defund public schools so students don’t turn into woke jihadists and learn about gay penguins.
  • • MM was probably right when he said in his angry mindset that Frenchy and Kimiko wouldn’t last more than 6 months as a couple.
  • Most gory scene award:Did I mention the weirdo Supe trapped within the walls of Fort Harmony?
